Working across disciplines

Vision

To reduce the scale and impact of dementia, we can leverage new technologies to promote health equity and universal access to brain health.

Strategy

Stelios is a research psychologist working on creating more accurate, engaging and easy-to-use tests to detect early cognitive decline. He is using new technologies to gamify these tests thus making them more appealing to older adults.

Impact

Stelios is collaborating with GBHI to translate and adapt cognitive assessment tests for use in his region. He has received funding from GBHI and Alzheimer’s Association pilot project grants to test a new technology-based cognitive screening model.

Motivation

Dementia services are available in major cities; however, older adults in rural areas have limited access to specialized services and no access to tools they can use on their own to improve their brain health and detect cognitive disorders.
