Vision
We can reduce the impact of dementia by increasing the awareness of the public, by providing proper management of reversible causes, offering better care for people with dementia and by conducting an impactful research work regarding dementia.
Strategy
As a neurologist, I screen patients for cognitive impairment and identify reversible causes. I also involve family members in the care of people with dementia. In addition, I work with humanitarian organizations to help them lead better lives.
Impact
Using the knowledge, skill and network, I will conduct a research work on the magnitude and causes of dementia with particular emphasis to HIV associated dementia in my locality. I will also study the impact of epilepsy and AED on brain health.
Motivation
The awareness of our society about dementia is very low. Moreover people with dementia are facing stigma and discrimination even by health professionals. This implies there is much expected from us to improve awareness and provide better care.

Temesgen received his medical degree from Haramaya University and worked as a lecturer. Then he joined Addis Ababa University to study neurology specialty certificate.
