Current Work

Eléonore Bayen is Professor of Medicine at Sorbonne University. She is the Director of the Neuro-Rehabilitation Department of Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital in Paris (APHP). As a physician, she is an expert in the complex care of patients with traumatic brain injury.

Vision

Eléonore encourages awareness and understanding of disability related to neurocognitive disorders.

Strategy

Eléonore is raising awareness about neurocognitive rehabilitation techniques to identify better cognitive impairment and compensation tools to support patients and caregivers. In research, she works on large health claims datasets, studying neuro-epidemiology and the impact of dementia and multimorbidity on costs.

Impact

WIth strong support from the GBHI community and from colleagues from her home country, Eléonore is raising awareness about brain health across the lifespan and developing the MyBrainRobbie.org initiative.

There is not enough awareness and education about neurocognitive impairment.

Education & Experience

Eléonore Bayen is Professor of Medicine at Sorbonne University and Director of the Neuro-Rehabilitation Department of Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital in Paris. She holds a medical degree in Neurology (2008) and a PhD in Economics (2015). Eléonore designs public health interventions to support family caregivers (2015) and, more recently, brain health classes to promote healthy neuroprotective lifestyles in children and teens (since 2018). To this end, she launched the MyBrainRobbie initiative in 2019, thanks to the support of the Global Brain Health Institute and the Alzheimer’s Association (US). The MyBrainRobbie initiative aims to empower children and teens in the domain of brain health and, more broadly, promote equity in brain health in society at large; it has been translated in 7 languages. Eléonore has authored over 60 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and contributed chapters to books and journals for the public.
