I am thrilled to be part of this network of change-makers committed to enhancing the health of communities and countries all over the world.

Vera Bakman brings extensive experience in international development, global health, and humanitarian aid to GBHI through her work at various international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) focused on underserved and marginalized populations. Her work is driven by a belief in basic human rights and the need to tackle global challenges to health equity and equality of opportunity. She is a trilingual speaker of Russian, Spanish, and English.

Before joining GBHI, Bakman provided budgetary and financial planning support to the International Rescue Committee in New York City. Other work has included programmatic and financial reporting for drug-resistant tuberculosis programs in Russia and Kazakhstan for Partners in Health, as well as extensive fieldwork in Nicaragua and Haiti focused on sustainable community development and gender equity.

Bio: Vera Bakman holds a bachelor’s degree in economics management science from the University of California, San Diego, and a Master’s of Science degree in international development economics from the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics/Universitat Pompeu.
