Fondation Alzheimer (FA) and the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI) have initiated a new partnership under the umbrella of the Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health Program.

One of the major challenges in advancing the fight against Alzheimer’s disease and other related disorders is to generate new and bold ideas that have a global impact. With this in mind, the Fondation Alzheimer and the Global Brain Health Institute are launching the French Alzheimer’s Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health Program to empower medical researchers engaged in Alzheimer’s research and fully committed to changing the world.

The program will provide innovative training, extensive networking, and long-term support to the fellows. With a 12-month immersion at either the University of California, San Francisco (USA) or Trinity College Dublin (Ireland), fellows will benefit from an interdisciplinary approach, including epidemiology, statistics, ethics, law, and leadership, being surrounded by world leading experts in brain health and dementia. 

Eligibility criteria

• French Citizenship
• Candidates must hold both a medical doctorate (MD) and at least a master 2 degree obtained within the last 10 years at the submission deadline
• Candidates must hold a permanent position within a French academic institution at the time of the application or be in the process of being recruited
• Fluency in English

Candidates must develop an innovative and impactful project in the field of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia that will be implemented in France. Funds are intended to cover the applicant full time salary for 12 months and travel cost to reach the selected university.  

Selection is based on the candidate profile, as well as the global approach of the project. Candidates will be evaluated by both the Scientific Advisory Board of Fondation Alzheimer and the Global Brain Health Institute Selection Committee.

La Fondation Alzheimer (FA) et le Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI) ont initié un nouveau partenariat sous l’égide du programme Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health.

L’un des défis majeurs pour faire progresser la lutte contre la maladie d’Alzheimer et les maladies apparentées est de générer des idées nouvelles et audacieuses ayant un impact mondial. Dans cette optique, la Fondation Alzheimer et le Global Brain Health Institute lancent le programme Atlantic fellows for equity in brain health Alzheimer France pour soutenir les médecins chercheurs engagés dans la recherche sur la maladie d'Alzheimer et pleinement déterminés à changer le monde.

Le programme offrira une formation innovante, un réseau étendu et un soutien de long terme aux lauréats. Avec une immersion complete de 12 mois à l'Université de Californie (États-Unis) ou au Trinity College Dublin (Irelande), les lauréats bénéficieront d'une approche interdisciplinaire, comprenant de l'épidémiologie, des statistiques, de l'éthique, du droit et du leadership, en étant entouré d'experts de renommée international de la santé du cerveau et de la démence. 

Critère d'éligibilité

• Etre de nationalité française
• Etre titulaire d'un doctorat en médecine (MD) et à minima d’un master 2 obtenus au plus tard il y a 10 ans à la date limite de soumission du dossier
• Occuper un poste permanent en France au moment de la candidature ou en cours de recrutement
• Maîtriser l’anglais couramment

Le candidat doit développer en France un projet innovant et à fort impact dans le domaine de la maladie d’Alzheimer et maladies apparentées. Les fonds sont destinés à couvrir le salaire du candidat à plein temps pendant 12 mois et un aller-retour vers l’Université choisie.  

La sélection est basée sur le profil du candidat, ainsi que sur l'approche globale du projet. Les candidatures seront évaluées par le Conseil Scientifique de la Fondation Alzheimer et du Global Brain Health Institute.

L’Altantic fellows for equity in brain health du GBHI est un cursus unique, qui m’a permis de travailler avec des universitaires internationalement renommés de l’University of California San Francisco et de l’UniversIté Trinity College Dublin.
