Vision

To reduce the scale and impact of dementia, we need to address how social factors and disabilities such as sensory impairment may impact brain health and increase the risk of dementia.

Strategy

David is conducting research to better understand how cognition is influenced by age-related hearing loss, a highly prevalent condition among older adults.

Impact

David's mentorship in GBHI has given him a deeper understanding of how research intersects with policy and the clinical environment to help improve the lives of those affected by dementia. This has given him the experience to develop research and help raise awareness of the link between hearing loss and cognition.

Motivation

Hearing loss is a widely prevalent disability among older adults and can impact on cognition and quality of life.
