Current Work
Marija's work focuses on implementing psychoeducational interventions in dementia care, with a particular emphasis on adapting these interventions for low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and settings with limited or inequitable access to support.

We can advance brain health and reduce the scale and impact of dementia by empowering communities to lead, nurturing local strengths, addressing structural barriers, and co-creating locally relevant solutions through engagement that ensures sustainable, equitable, and community-owned approaches to prevention and care.
Strategy
Marija is implementing and adapting evidence-based, equitable dementia support programmes in the UK and Macedonia, working to address critical gaps in care and improve access to support for people living with dementia and their families.
Impact
As an Atlantic Fellow, Marija aims to develop leadership skills and networks to strengthen capacity for implementing evidence-based dementia support in Macedonia and use this learning to build global collaborations that promote equitable, dementia care in underserved settings.
Motivation
By identifying shared gaps, inequities and local strenghts in Macedonia and other regions, Marija aims to leverage cross-context learning to reduce disparities, strengthen equitable care systems, and generate knowledge that can be applied globally.
Education & Experience
Marija holds an MSc in Dementia from University College London and a BA in Psychology from the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje, Macedonia. Her work focuses on implementing and culturally adapting evidence-based dementia interventions, with an emphasis on improving equity. Marija currently works as a Service Developer at Alzheimer’s Society UK. She is also involved with the Institute for Alzheimer’s Disease and Neuroscience in Skopje, supporting multiple research projects, and engages with international organisations such as Alzheimer Europe and Alzheimer’s Disease International.
