Vision

Meltem believes that challenging agism and all types of discrimination should be the starting point to advance brain health while promoting and improving person-centered, holistic care and prevention models in healthcare and social care.

Strategy

Meltem is working as a geriatrician and is actively developing her expertise in collaborative care models, with a particular focus on orthogeriatric care, which integrates geriatric principles into the management of fragility fractures.

Impact

As an Atlantic Fellow, Meltem hopes to expand her communication toolkit and advocacy skills to tackle agism and other forms of discrimination, and to drive improvements in geriatric practice by promoting the integration of geriatric principles across all care settings.

As Türkiye's population ages, dementia is becoming more common. Improving awareness, reducing stigma, and integrating geriatric principles into routine care are essential to ensure timely diagnosis, person-centred care, and better outcomes.
