Vision

Advancing brain health requires preventing disease, promoting healthy aging, and making dementia care accessible to everyone. By working together across healthcare, research, and communities, we can help people live healthier, more independent lives.

Strategy

Rapas cares for older adults, teach future healthcare professionals, and conduct research to improve dementia care and early detection. I also help develop practical care models that support people living with dementia and their families.

Impact

As an Atlantic Fellow, Rapas hopes to strengthen my leadership and build global collaborations to develop innovative, equitable dementia care models that improve brain health and quality of life for older adults in Thailand and beyond.

Motivation

As Thailand ages, dementia is becoming a growing public health challenge. Rapas' work focuses on improving early detection, practical care pathways, and support for families so more people can receive timely, accessible, and compassionate dementia care.

Rapas Samalapa completed her medical degree at Chulalongkorn University and her training in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine in Thailand. She is a geriatrician at the Geriatric Excellence Center, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, and a clinical lecturer at Chulalongkorn University.
