Current Work
Richard is a psychiatrist with interest in neuropsychiatry. He also provides psychotherapy services and lectures part-time. His research currently focuses on artificial intelligence and innovative solutions to the practice and teaching of brain health.

Vision
We should promote awareness and reduce stigma. Getting people to recognize that everyone has a brain and thus at risk of brain health conditions will enhance collective efforts at improving brain health. This requires creative holistic approaches.
Strategy
Richard is using 3D modeling to enhance brain health education in resource-constrained settings, helping people better appreciate how the brain works. He is also building AI interventions to prevent and manage brain health conditions.
Impact
As an Atlantic Fellow, Richard aims to develop innovative interventions that will improve understanding of brain health and dementia in Ghana, especially among young people with the aim of preventing "neurophobia" and increasing interest.
Motivation
By employing creative 3D modeling educational programmes to teaching the structure and function of the brain, dementia and other brain health topics, Richard aims to increase young peoples' interest in pursuing brain health professions.
Education & Experience
Richard Dei-Asamoa completed medical training at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana.
He obtained a Master of Philosophy degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ghana, Legon. He further received a master of science degree in health informatics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
He is a Fellow of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons as well as the West African College of Physicians, Psychiatry Faculties.
He practices as a Psychiatrist at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and a part-time lecturer with the University of Ghana Medical School, Accra College of Medicine and Family Health Medical School, all in Ghana.
