hear/say Readers' Theater

Event Details

Two outlined human profiles face each other with simple brain drawings inside, connected by a single line that forms a small heart between them, with the text “Readers’ Theater – everyone has a story” and partner logos below.

Join us for a live storytelling event that brings personal stories to life through powerful readings. The hear/say Readers’ Theater will feature voices from our community sharing narratives that express a range of experiences of aging, dementia, caregiving, and creativity.

This event is part of the hear/say project, a collaboration between UCSF’s Memory and Aging Center, the Global Brain Health Institute, and Voice of Witness. Since 2016, hear/say has created space for people to share stories that are often overlooked—stories that deepen our understanding, reduce stigma, and celebrate the beauty and complexity of life and brain health.

Come listen, reflect, and connect. All are welcome.

Goals

  • Share real stories about aging, caregiving, and brain health from people around the world.
  • Help people connect—and find joy—by listening to and honoring each other’s stories and experiences.
  • Break down stigma about dementia and aging by sharing honest and personal stories.
  • Inspire care and action by showing the power of storytelling to create understanding and change.
