Join us for a special online event focusing on how Alzheimer’s disease clinical trials can improve recruitment, enrollment, and retention of diverse populations to ensure potential treatments are safe, effective, accessible, and equitable. A global lineup will speak followed by discussion and Q&A. This event is co-hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association, Global Brain Health Institute, and Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity & Equity, Washington University in St. Louis, and brings together the work of the Alzheimer’s Association Clinical Trials Advancement and Methods & Diversity and Disparities Professional Interest Areas (PIAs) as they launch a Diversity in Clinical Trails Work Group together with a GBHI Interest Group.

Goals:

Presenters and panelists will discuss the need for a more thoughtful approach/frameworks to increase diversity in Alzheimer's disease (AD) clinical trials and expand access to low- and middle-income countries (LMIC). Symposium attendees will achieve the following learning objectives:

  1. Identify current limitations and barriers that contributes to homogenous samples in existing AD clinical trials.
  2. Leverage available evidence of on-going AD trials to develop strategies to address ethical complexities in recruitment, enrollment and retention of diverse populations.
  3. Provide guidance and recommendations that enable and facilitate sustained AD clinical trial participation of diverse communities.
