Event Details

Free Art Making Classes at the de Young museum

Exclusively for adults ages 55 and up

Explore your creativity and be inspired by art at the de Young museum in Golden Gate Park. No experience necessary.

Dates & Time

Every Wednesday, January 28–March 25, 10:30 am–1 pm (No class on March 4)

Class Description

In this fun, hands-on workshop, we’ll draw inspiration from historic embroidery pieces and contemporary textile-based artworks to learn embroidery stitches and give them a modern twist. Using fabric paint, thread, and imagination, you’ll create your own mixed-media artwork—blending past and present to tell your personal story through color, texture, and stitch. No experience necessary; just bring your curiosity and creativity to our sewing circle. All art materials provided.

About the Instructor

Atlantic Fellow Verónica Rojas is a practicing visual artist and community teaching artist with years of experience teaching older adults through programs such as Art with Elders.
