Vision

Claudia is committed to advancing blood-based biomarkers to ensure diagnostic equity and reduce dementia burden. These tools enable early, affordable diagnosis and expand access in underserved populations—promoting brain health through scalable, inclusive solutions.

Strategy

Claudia leads the biomarker platform through the ReDLat consortium, focused on validating and implementing blood-based biomarkers using the first multi-country data in Latin America to translate science into equitable diagnostics and public health action.

Impact

Claudia aims to establish the Global South Initiative for Peripheral Biomarkers to drive scalable, low-cost dementia diagnostics. Through the fellowship at the Global Brain Health Institute, she will expand collaborations, harmonize protocols, and build capacity across Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Oceania.

Motivation

Latin America faces rising dementia rates, limited access to early diagnosis, and deep regional inequities. Scalable, low-cost tools, such as blood-based biomarkers, are urgently needed to reduce the diagnostic gap and support equitable public health responses.

Education & Experience

Claudia holds a Master's in Immunology and a Doctorate in Biomedicine. She is co-director of the Latin American Brain Health Institute (BrainLat) and associate professor at Adolfo Ibáñez University, Chile. Actively involved in regional initiatives (ReDLat, LAC-CD), she also collaborates with public organizations to advance dementia policy and awareness. Her work bridges basic and clinical research, with a focus on improving diagnostic access and promoting brain health equity across Latin America.
