The Chuck Feeney Lecture Series

Overview

Celebrating a Decade of Impact

The Chuck Feeney Lecture Series was established in June 2026 to mark ten years of the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI) at Trinity College Dublin.

Over the past decade, GBHI’s global community of Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health has grown to more than 300 fellows from over 60 countries, dedicated to advancing brain health and equity worldwide.

None of this would have been possible without Chuck Feeney’s extraordinary vision and generosity, which have made an immeasurable difference not only to GBHI, but also to Trinity, Ireland, and the countless people around the world whose lives his philanthropy has touched.

In honour of this legacy, GBHI at Trinity is establishing the Chuck Feeney Lecture Series to bring together global perspectives on brain health, equity, and leadership. The lectures will explore brain health, the social and environmental factors that shape it, and the importance of equity in society today.

The theme of the inaugural lecture which was held on June 10, 2026 was “Brain Health, Equity, and Our Shared Planet.”

Brain Health

Brain health is more than the absence of illness. It develops across the life course and is shaped by the conditions in which we are born, grow, live, and age.

It reflects the interaction of biology, environment, and lived experience.

Improving brain health requires connected approaches that bridge science, policy, and society — an approach central to the work of the Global Brain Health Institute.

Equity

Brain health reflects lifelong social and environmental conditions, many shaped by inequality.

Differences in access to healthcare, education, and economic resources create significant threats to brain health and influence how people experience aging and cognitive health.

Addressing these differences is central to the work of the Global Brain Health Institute.

Leadership

The scale and complexity of brain health challenges require leadership that brings together disciplines, sectors, and perspectives.

Through the Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health program, the Global Brain Health Institute trains and connects the next generation of brain health leaders.

Over the past decade, this has grown into a global network of more than 300 fellows — working across boundaries to improve brain health for those most in need worldwide.

Applications for the 2027–2028 fellowship program will open soon.
