Joining a global community committed to advancing brain health equity, eighteen leaders from around the world begin their fellowship journey at the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI) at Trinity College Dublin.
In a world increasingly shaped by inequities, GBHI at Trinity welcomes its 11th cohort of Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health, bringing together leaders committed to championing equity and innovation in brain health.
Representing 13 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, the 2026-27 Atlantic Fellows bring expertise spanning psychiatry, neurology, healthy aging, dementia research, education, policy, advocacy, and the creative arts, alongside a rich diversity of backgrounds, perspectives, and lived experiences.

Learning, Leadership and Collaboration
The Atlantic Fellows program at GBHI at Trinity is a 12-month, full-time, in-person fellowship centered on a life-course approach to advancing brain health equity worldwide.
Fellows participate in an immersive learning experience that combines an interdisciplinary curriculum, leadership development, mentorship, and clinical and lived experiences. Throughout the year, they engage with faculty, practitioners, and partners from across disciplines, gaining new perspectives on the factors that shape brain health across the life course.
As they begin their fellowship at GBHI at Trinity, the 2026-27 Atlantic Fellows embark on a journey that will strengthen their leadership capacity, expand their global networks, and equip them to drive change in their communities and beyond.
One Global Community
The fellows at Trinity are part of a wider incoming cohort of 34 Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health, with an additional 16 fellows undertaking the program at GBHI at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
Together, the incoming fellows represent 24 countries, including the first Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health from Lebanon, North Macedonia, and Palestine, extending the program's global reach. Their backgrounds span medicine, public health, dementia research, education, policy, advocacy, and the arts.
Fellows benefit from learning experiences shaped by the unique strengths and expertise of Trinity and UCSF while sharing a common mission and values, alongside opportunities for connection through international gatherings and collaboration. As Atlantic Fellows, they become part of a lifelong global community working to advance brain health equity.
With the arrival of the 2026-27 cohort, that community has grown to 336 fellows from 70 countries, working across disciplines and regions to improve dementia care, strengthen research, influence policy, expand public understanding, and develop culturally relevant approaches to brain health.
