Overview
The Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is advancing brain health equity by developing leaders equipped to address one of the world's greatest health challenges.
Grounded in the clinical and research excellence of the UCSF Edward and Pearl Fein Memory and Aging Center, GBHI at UCSF brings together professionals from diverse disciplines to deepen their understanding of brain health, strengthen their leadership, and translate knowledge into meaningful action. Through education, mentorship, research, and global collaboration, we prepare leaders to improve brain health in communities around the world.
Through the training of a new generation of leaders, we truly have a chance to transform our society.

Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health
The Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health program at UCSF is a global hybrid fellowship for experienced professionals committed to advancing brain health equity.
The fellowship combines interactive online learning, international in-person workshops, and a residential learning experience at UCSF. Designed for leaders from diverse professional backgrounds, it meets fellows where they are—providing meaningful exposure to clinical and research approaches while building on each participant's existing expertise to strengthen their impact at home and around the world.
Meet the Fellows
Atlantic Fellows are physicians, neuroscientists, nurses, psychologists, artists, writers, engineers, public health professionals, policymakers, entrepreneurs, social advocates, and many others united by a shared commitment to advancing brain health equity.
Their diverse perspectives are one of the fellowship's greatest strengths, creating an environment where fellows challenge one another, learn across disciplines, and build lasting collaborations that continue well beyond the fellowship year.
Learning at the UCSF Fein Memory and Aging Center
GBHI is embedded within the UCSF Fein Memory and Aging Center and the UCSF Weill Institute for Neurosciences, giving fellows access to one of the world's leading centers for dementia care and brain health research.
Through clinical observations, grand rounds, faculty seminars, and interdisciplinary discussions, fellows engage with the people and ideas shaping the future of brain health while gaining new perspectives to inform their own work.
Research & Clinical Trials
Research is central to the UCSF fellowship experience. Fellows engage with internationally recognized faculty through seminars, laboratory meetings, and collaborative discussions that explore advances in dementia, neuroscience, and brain health. These experiences foster interdisciplinary collaboration and expose fellows to innovative approaches that are shaping the future of brain health.
By engaging with cutting-edge research, fellows strengthen their ability to translate evidence into action within clinical practice, public health, policy, education, advocacy, and the arts.
