Vision

Equity recognizes the value of each of us, it celebrates every contribution, and it defines us as a collective. In equity, there is no them, only us.

Strategy

Kai is a physical therapist and full-time educator in the UCSF Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science, where she serves as Vice Chair of Equity. Kai is working to integrate health professions education with critical pedagogy and anti-racist practices to improve health equity.

Motivation

Kai is bringing an equity lens to the discussions around social determinants of health and to the leadership development curriculum for GBHI.

Education & Experience

Kai received her doctorate of physical therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University and her bachelor's degree in Kinesiological Sciences from the University of Maryland, College Park. She practiced full-time for a number of years before transitioning to the academic space. She serves the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science at UCSF as the Vice Chair of Equity.
