Vision

Maria Eugenia believes we can advance brain health and reduce dementia's impact by strengthening research capacity in underserved regions through international collaboration, sustainable funding, and inclusive networks that empower local scientists to lead context-specific projects.

Strategy

Maria Eugenia builds regional research capacity by leading large-scale international brain health projects, training local teams, and fostering inclusive collaboration. She coordinated Argentina's first National Institutes of Health (NIH) R01 brain health research grant and co-founded BrainLat as a model center.

Impact

As an Atlantic Fellow, Maria Eugenia aims to help establish a Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI) global funding platform at Trinity College Dublin to strengthen research capacity, secure funding, and support autonomous centers in Latin America, Africa, and Asia, reducing brain health disparities.

Motivation

Dementia incidence is rising in Argentina, with late-onset cases increasing significantly over the past decade. Socioeconomic disparities exacerbate risk factors, highlighting the urgent need for targeted, inclusive brain health.

Education & Experience

María Eugenia has a bachelor's degree in Government and International Relations from Universidad Argentina de la Empresa. She received a master's degrees in Project Management from Universidad Tecnológica Nacional and a master's degrees in Institutional Communication from Universidad de Ciencias Empresariales. María Eugenia also holds a diploma in Global Brain Health from Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez. María Eugenia is currently Project Manager of ReDLat and an International Advisor at BrainLat, where she leads large-scale brain health research collaborations across Latin America.
