Vision

As an early years education specialist, Morten sees brain health as shaped across the life course, beginning in early childhood. Supporting strong early learning experiences can have lifelong effects on wellbeing and brain health, particularly when education systems reduce inequality and nurture cognitive, social, and emotional development from the earliest years.

Strategy

As an educational researcher, Morten has worked on the Children’s School Lives study, examining which educational factors contribute to high-quality learning environments. This includes analysing how teaching practices, school relationships, and learning climates support children’s wellbeing and development, with implications for lifelong learning and brain health.

Motivation

Morten's work supports GBHI’s mission by evaluating and strengthening the fellowship programme to ensure participants maximise their learning and development. By supporting high-quality educational experiences, he aims to help fellows become effective leaders in brain health who can protect and advocate for ageing populations in their communities worldwide.

Education & Experience

Morten began his career in early childhood education in Denmark, training in ECCE at University College Capital Nordsjælland. He completed a master’s degree in International and Comparative Education and an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction at George Washington University. He then worked in Lebanon as a teacher educator and researcher in refugee education at the Lebanese American University, before joining University College Dublin as a postdoctoral researcher on the national Children’s School Lives study.
