A multifaceted and society-wide approach to brain health is needed in order to empower our growing older population to live fulfilling and independent lives.

Current Work

Adam's current role as Lecturer Registrar in Global Brain Health, Trinity College Dublin and St. James's Hospital, Dublin involves supporting the clinical, educational and research activities of the Global Brain Health Institute and its associated locations.

His research interests include the application of diagnostic and therapeutic strategies focusing on frailty, dementia, neurovascular diseases and overall brain health.

Vision

A multifaceted and society-wide approach to brain health is needed in order to empower our growing older population to live fulfilling and independent lives for as long as possible, with a goal to provide equitable care and to reduce the global burden of dementia.

Strategy

Adam's role as Lecturer Registrar involves developing and clinically contributing to Brain Health and Gerontology services at Mercer’s Institute for Successful Ageing, St. James's Hospital. Both his research and educational roles focus on improving cognitive and functional health in the older population.

Motivation

Brain health is one of the key healthcare issues of our time both in Ireland and on a global scale. Adam aims to bridge knowledge gap in how healthcare providers and health researchers can best serve our older adults.  

Education & Experience

Adam received his medical school training from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and subsequently completed Basic Specialist Training in General Internal Medicine in Beaumont Hospital and Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown. He went on to hold posts as a Clinical Lecturer in Medicine in RCSI and Registrar in Geriatric Medicine. He completed a Professional Diploma in Clinical Leadership with RCSI in 2022.

He started his post as Lecturer Registrar in Global Brain Health in July 2023 and will complete his Medical Doctorate (MD) with the School of Medicine in Trinity investigating of sensory function and its relationship with cognitive and non-cognitive symptoms in dementia with Lewy bodies.
