Current Work

Claudia is a psychiatrist at the Neuroscience Group of Antioquia in Medellin, Colombia. She is working to determine factors related to onset and progression of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

Vision

To reduce the scale and impact of dementia, Claudia believes we need to encourage people to learn more about this topic: definition of dementia, first symptoms, and signs, when to visit the doctor, effective ways to diminish the risk.

Strategy

Claudia is writing a project focusing on anosognosia to impact caregiver's burden and improve quality of life in both patients and carers.

Impact

As an Atlantic Fellow, she learned to be a better leader, and improved her skills to communicate information about Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.

Motivation

Dementia research in Latin America is increasing, and Claudia believes we need an effective way to prevent this disease with the help of everyone: you, her, US!

Education & Experience

Claudia Ramos received her medical school training and her degree as psychiatrist from the Universidad de Antioquia in Medellin, Colombia. Now she is doing her PhD in Clinical Sciences in the same university, with the support of the Neuroscience Group of Antioquia.
