In supporting fellows and faculty with different projects, we are able to gain insight into the impacts of dementia on global communities.

Current Work

Sarah supports the Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health and faculty within the Global Brain Health Institute with the implementation of research projects and new grant applications, with a focus on the ReDLat project.

Vision

Using her experience in clinical research and social work skills, Sarah is able to meaningfully support fellows and researchers in making important discoveries in the global brain health field, shifting the way the world understands and addresses brain health disparities worldwide. 
 

Strategy

Before joining GBHI Sarah worked in the UCSF Cancer Center supporting her team with study start up procedures and maintenance of clinical trials. She also previously worked with community organizations in Denver and Portland advocating for food and housing justice as well as on a Culture and Arts project in Galway, Ireland.

Motivation

Sarah's work focuses on supporting the Atlantic Fellows with their research projects. In supporting fellows and faculty with different projects, we are able to gain insight into the impacts of dementia on global communities. 

Education & Experience

Sarah McDonagh earned Bachelor's Degrees in Social Work and Spanish from the University of Portland, including a study abroad program at the Universidad de Granada, Spain. She completed a Master's of Social Work with a concentration in Sustainable Development and Global Practice from the University of Denver. Sarah joined the GBHI team at UCSF in May 2023 as International Program Manager.
