Meeting: Skills & Leadership Strategies for Impact in Brain Health
Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Alzheimer’s Society, 43-44 Crutched Friars, London, EC3N 2AE

As practitioners, partners, and advocates advancing brain health equity, we know the time is now to halt the scale and impact of dementia for communities across the world and to champion healthy aging. This movement requires inclusive and strategic efforts and skills, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a local and global approach. On July 12, 2023, Global Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health from the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI) will gather in London with representatives from the Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer’s Disease International as stakeholders and partners in this movement.

During morning and afternoon sessions, participants will discuss both skills and leadership strategies for long-term impact in brain health. They will engage in learning and discussion to explore ways to implement research and ideas, apply theory of change methodologies, and understand approaches in community engagement. These co-curated educational and collaborative sessions will take place at the headquarters of the Alzheimer’s Society, also involving conversations around community-based work. After the gathering concludes, Global Atlantic Fellows will continue on to the Rhodes House in Oxford to participate in the Global Atlantic Fellow Convening 2023.

Goals:

  • Deepen connections with participants and build on leadership skills
  • Understand approaches to move dementia research from theory to action and collaborations with those living with dementia
  • Learn from an introduction to a theory-of-change workshop and ways to apply this approach
  • Engage in hands-on practices around creativity, connection, and community
